Creature From The Black Lagoon was produced and directed by William Alland and Jack Arnold. The backwaters of the Black Lagoon and Bud Westmore's excellent design of the Gill-man's costume add realism to a fantastic adventure. It features Richard Carlson, Richard Denning, and Nestor Paiva. The screenplay by Harry Essex and Arthur Ross was based upon a story by Maurice Zimm. The underwater sequences were directed by James C. Havens. When the web-fingered skeleton of an unknown creature is found near the Amazon River, a team of diver-scientists return to the region to investigate. Deep in the jungle they find a prehistoric man-fish still alive in his Black Lagoon. The 'Creature' was played by Ben Chapman out of the water and Ricou Browning under the water.
