It’s A Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World is Stanley Kramer’s epic chase comedy filmed in “Ultra Panavision”, Technicolor, and “Cinerama.” The film is a car chase spectacular showing off classics from the fifties and early sixties. Many makes are represented in the movie including a 1959 Studebaker Lark Wagon, a 1955 Buick Special, a 1958 Cadillac Coupe De Ville, a 1961 Chevrolet Bel Air, a 1954 Chevrolet Corvette, a 1962 Chrysler 300, a 1955 De Soto Fireflite, a 1962 Dodge Dart, a 1957 Ford Fairlane 500, a 1955 Ford Thunderbird, a 1962 Imperial Crown Convertible, a 1955 Mercury Montclair, a 1956 Nash Metropolitan, a 1960 Oldsmobile 98, a 1959 Plymouth Belvedere, a 1961 Pontiac Bonneville, a red Volkswagon convertible, and a 1955 Willys Jeep Station Wagon. It was a popular hit during the Avanti era that starred Spencer Tracy and included just about every comedian in the business at the time. Although Bob Hope, Lucille Ball and Jackie Gleason are conspicuously missing the cast includes Milton Berle, Sid Caesar, Buddy Hackett, Ethel Merman, Mickey Rooney, Phil Silvers, Terry Thomas, Jonathan Winters, and spotlights many others like Jim Backus, Don Knotts and Jerry Lewis.
